Boots on the Ground Field Survey
Prescott Creeks and the Granite Creek Watershed Improvement Council are looking for volunteers to join the Creek Crew and participate in a field survey of our local creeks on Saturday, March 27th, 2010. Volunteers will be the “Boots on the Ground” for the collaborative Watershed Improvement Planning project to improve the water quality in our local waterways.
Volunteers will walk along the creeks assessing the condition of riparian (streamside) vegetation, inflows (pipes, ditches, and culverts), and potential pollution sources. Volunteers will receive training on field protocols, data sheets, and the use of GPS units. The survey will be physically demanding, so volunteers must be in good physical condition and able to walk several miles over rough terrain.
