Where to find the scoop on Prescott history

Sharlot Hall Museum. That’s all you need to know.

If you haven’t been there, you must not have been downtown. Just look around for the most lovely shaded grounds and roses two blocks west of the Courthouse on Gurley Street.

You can park yourself in at a picnic table under a tree for a restful coffee break or a brown bag lunch if you don’t have time to go through the museum. You may well see a wedding in progress in the gazebo which graces the grounds.

If you live here, or are just now planning your visit to Prescott, you can begin exploring our colorful history as soon as you arrive. In fact, start in advance, right here, by visiting the Museum’s “Day’s Past” page.

Of special interest is the “Arizona Memory Project.” You can search through collections that include:

  • American Indian Images
  • Audio Collection (oral histories)
  • Map Collection
  • Mining Images
  • Transportation Images
  • Buildings Images
  • All about Sharlot herself
