It’s a time when people who’ve never asked before are looking for some sort of assistance. Whether they’re looking for financial aid or support in dealing with illness, there are a lot of us needing some kind of life preserver. I’m getting requests weekly and I’m not even employed in the social services.
But, you know, that’s what About Prescott Arizona is about, connecting people in our community.
Here’s a place for Prescottonians to help find another by asking for specific assistance ideas, or, if you have a service that people need to know about, share it here by using the commenting area. Just a note: comments ARE moderated to prevent spam, so your comment may not appear immediately.
Don’t forget to check the list of resources geared to seniors and caregivers here.
What a great resource for the community. You’ve created a great networking service. Thanks for what you are doing to create a compassionate and caring community!

I am a widow, 66 years old and a diabetic with the normal health issues that go along with diabetes that has gone out of control. Has there been a local (Chino Valley, AZ.) group formed to help people with the control of diabetes? I don’t have the financial resources to go to YRMC and take their classes. They just aren’t affordable for someone on a fixed income. I’m sure there are many of us who would like to join a group that would be free and structured for diabetes. If this is not an option, are there others in the same boat I’m in that would be interested in forming a self help group? Any ideas would be appreciated. I can be reached by email at BJGibbins@cableone.net.

Hi, I am 48 yrs old and am currently looking after my parents who are in their 80′s. I cannot get out much as I have to stay close and help my mom look after my dad. He has a colostomy. I was wondering if there are any support groups for Caregivers in the Prescott Area? Also as it is I have to take care of myself to care for my parents.
Thank you.

Have you visited my page of resources for Prescott Elders and their caregivers? It is here.
There are a number of support groups including some programs that provide support to people needing it, who could end up giving you a much needed break. I hope that you’ll find the support you need.
If you find other programs that can help in your particular situation, please be sure to share that info with me so I can add it to the Resources page.

Hello! Thank you for the service provided at your site. I am a Navy Veteran and cancer survivor (and an artist) who is moving to Prescott in Nov. or Dec. of this year. I am honestly overwhelmed with the opportunities and information I am finding online. I have a friend here who is helping me navigate the web. I’m not computer savvy myself.
Was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to go about finding affordable senior housing in or around the Prescott area? I do receive Social Security disability. Thanks for any help you can provide. Please email with any advice.
